Oak: A Fairy Tale

Once upon a time there was a townhouse. It was a nice townhouse with a very good view of Pikes Peak. The problem was, the very nice townhouse had very disgusting carpet. (And linoleum.)

One day, Becky, the owner of the townhouse, decided to go on vacation. While she was gone, some little gnomes appeared, tore out the carpet, and installed some very beautiful oak floors. When Becky came home, she was delighted.

Becky and her loyal lab, Havana, lived happily ever after in her beautiful townhouse with a beautiful view and beautiful floors.

The end.

P.S. If anyone in the Denver area is interested in new floors, I know a great guy ... I mean ... some gnomes I highly recommend.

I don't know, Becky. This sounds suspicious. Gnomes doing that for nothing? You just wait, they're going to be back soon, demanding you weave them gold or give you your first baby or something.

Nice floors! It completely gives the place a whole new feeling, I bet. Do your gnomes refinish floors, too? I may want to talk to them if they do.

I think so, Ric. I'll check with him ... I mean them ... this weekend and let you know.

Those floors really are amazing!Who got you the flowers? Another gnome or someone who really "likes" you a lot?

Sweeeeeet!! They look amazing. Not that you asked for my input or anything, but I experimented with many different cleaners when we had hardwood floors. I found that a huge spray bottle with about 1 part vinegar (plain white) and 3 parts water worked the BEST. You spray and then wipe clean. Makes them shiny and there is no icky buildup or streaks. Stay away from the swiffer products. Ew. And I don't recommend Murphy's Oil Soap either. Too streaky. Vinegar is stinky and you have to use some elbow grease, but it's totally worth it.

Thanks Carolyn! Actually, I did need some cleaning advice. I'll definitely try it out! So ... any suggestions on the best way to collect the dog hair?
