I'm Sorry

I have deleted my last post. It was in poor taste and was basically laughing at other people's expense. I apologize to those I offended with it.

I'll be the first to admit that my judgment is off sometimes. I say and things or do things without fully thinking them through. I realize that sometimes my words seem to contradict my alleged desire to honor God with my life.

I'm a big girl. When I make a mistake, I own it. I admit, posting this last post was not the best choice.

However, two things have infuriated me ...

First of all, to associate MY mistakes with the ministry of Compassion is wrong. Compassion is not responsible for the things I say or do - I am. Just like every other Christian institution, the ministry of Compassion is made up of humans - fallible, fallen individuals who, although they honestly desire to serve God with their lives, will make mistakes. I am one of those people. Anyone I offend on this blog should not put that on Compassion. It's on me.

Secondly, if you feel the need to point out my flaws to everyone who reads this blog in the comment section, at least have the decency to own your words instead of posting anonymously.

I'm seriously considering making this blog private or deleting it altogether before it becomes another forum for miscommunication and judgment.

I don't have any idea what that previous post was about -- or who could be so unkind to you, but I'm sorry you had to go through that (and that someone also started blaming Compassion!). Anyway -- I wanted to say Congratulations on your marriage, and on all the great photos I've been seeing of you two! I'm so happy for you! Blessings on your marriage!

I missed the post too but wanted to comment because I do enjoy your blogs so if you do go private, please let me be a member. I'm sure one of these days I'm going to be apologizing for something too. I do tend to make occasional bad/negative comments so I understand where you're coming from. To own up to it and apologize to those offended was the right thing to do and for anonymous to come forward to you alone (in private) would also be the right thing. I don't think you'll bite him/her but it would give you the chance to clear up misunderstanding and restore whatever type of relationship it was.

I hope you don't delete it! You're great and I love reading it!

Oh, I'm sorry for your bad experience, Becky. It's weird to have a personal, private blog when you work for a very public organization--it's a struggle to figure out when my sense of humor is appropriate and when it's not! Here's empathizing with you, kid.

Maybe I'm just a horrible person but I thought it was hilarious! I realize there may actually be something wrong with me... :) Don't sweat it too much. Anyone who blogs is bound to offend someone, somewhere at some point. I know I've done it. :)

I missed it! Dang, I always miss the fun. :-) I agree with the other comments - you're bound to offend someone. Good for you for apologizing, but I don't think you need to make this blog private. Learn from your mistake, see it as a chance to grow. :-)

I'm in agreeance, please don't delete your blog! Or if you put it to private, please include me, I love your blogs! :)

Thanks, guys.

I did write this post out of frustration and I tend to be a little impulsive when I'm reacting emotionally.

So (at least for the time being) I'm not going to make this blog private.

No worries.

I agree that some of that stuff can be offensive ... and I respect you for this post.

But I know your heart, and you're right in thinking that some of the ridiculousness demonstrated there is just plain stinkin' hilarious. Take, for example this photo (no people involved) I mean, come on. Honestly? A flashlight?:

Crap. Nevermind. I just realized that you probably wouldn't want me to include the link. Sorry. Take my word for it though. It's funny.

Thank you for your words, brother. Why don't you just tell me the date?
