2008: The Year of the Smile

I love the New Year. It just feels ... fresh. I've made a resolution this year, which I'm hoping I can keep up for 21 days (which will make it a habit, right?)

Anywho, I hereby resolve to:

Make eye contact and smile at at least three strangers per day.

By the way, I think a lot of people in this town resolved to not speed this year because everyone was driving under the speed limit this morning. It made it hard to get to work on time.

So what is your resolution? (There's a certain amount of accountability that comes with sharing it, isn't there?)

To hike up Pike's Peak, even though I am afraid of heights.

Journal everyday, like I used to in high school. About things other than boys. :)

I like to smile at strangers too, although it's harder in a big city because (a) people don't make eye contact and (c) men think you're queer/women think you're a perv. Nevertheless, I do smile at strangers as often as I judge it appropriate... and they often smile back! I think it's an automatic emotional reaction, but it's pretty cool. Someone told me you should smile while you talk on the phone because the other person can "hear" it. I have to think about that. - John P.

That is awesome Becky; as you know I like to smile a lot. I sure miss my Compassion days! Armin

I've heard that too, John. I'll be listening for the smile next time we talk. :)

Now here's a question ... do you smile when you IM?

I always smile when I IM. It's going to get me in trouble at work.
