I Love Christmas

This is what it's all about.
There is a bigger story. And it's beautiful.

The Lazarus Effect

The other night my husband and I were watching our favorite Food Network show online. Typically when we watch shows on Hulu, we see the same lame-o commercials, over and over and over. It's annoying. (The price we pay for not paying for TV, I guess.)

So we were surprised to, out of the blue, see an ad that we'd never seen before. Not only was it a nice change, it was a brilliant ad.

It's simple, funny and informative.

I love it.

Way to go, (RED).

Speaking the Truth

This video has been making its rounds on Facebook. I hadn't watched it, just assuming it was another overly-hyped video that had gone viral around my Christian-saturated Facebook world. But so many people commented on it, that I finally sat down to watch it.

I'm so glad I did. I love it. This is TRUTH. And the part that I love the most is that it is spoken word. Poetry. Art.

I'm sure God is pleased with how this guy is using his gift. Preach it, brother.

We Fly Acoustic Airlines

We fly Southwest Airlines almost exclusively. Traveling with a child, you can't beat their luggage policy. Now here's just one more reason we'll keep flying them ... I can hardly wait to see who's going to show up on our next flight! (If it were Mat again, I wouldn't be disappointed.)

Who's the artist you'd most like to surprise you with an in flight concert?

Motherhood by Immersion

In the final few weeks before BabyGio arrives, I've been surrounding myself with as many babies as possible. I figure it's kind of like learning a language by immersion.

So last week my sister brought her kiddos for a picnic lunch at the park across the street. Moriah, my six-month-old niece, got to experience the bliss of eating a strawberry for the first time. (After witnessing the carnage, it's obvious that Carl's Jr.'s "Don't bother me ... I'm eating" commercials have nothing on this girl!)

Apparently pregnancy has changed my voice into a man's voice. How unbecoming. I hope it changes back.

And here, her brother Micah discovers that bomannas have hair.

Then today at lunch, I had another niece visit, this time two months old.
Needless to say, I'm getting a teensy bit excited for our baby to be here and join the fun!

Old People Rock

This couple has been married for 62 years and he'll be 90 this year. They walked into the lobby of the Mayo Clinic for a checkup and spotted a piano. Here is their impromptu performance.

I'm shooting for that much fun after 62 years with my husband!

My Brother Was Right ...

In all I read 3.25 of the Twilight books. You might remember my post after the first one.

My brother saw me reading it and told me it was a waste of time. I told him to shut up. But you know what? He was right. It was a serious waste of my life.

So when I saw this video on his Facebook page, I had to post it. It's funny. And it shows you just how awful the story actually is. It's so bad, I'm embarrassed that I ever liked it.

Puppy Love

This is what it's like every day when Chris gets home. I'm not kidding.

They greet him like he's been gone for a year.

Cross Country Snowboarding

I apologize for posting three videos in a row, but this one is too good to pass up. (Thanks, brother.)

Going to Chick-fil-A is good birth control.

Chris and I decided that last night.

We went out to The Chick for dinner. It was a snowy night and we had two free sandwich coupons. (Thanks Facebook!) Spent $3.97 for dinner for two ... can't beat that.

Anyway.

The place was a madhouse. There must have been three kids there for every one adult. Where in the world did they all come from? Granted, we chose a table right next to the play area, but still. It didn't much matter where we sat. As we ate our dinner amidst the the chaos, our conversation (not surprisingly) centered on our feelings about having children someday. Or more accurately, how we could have kids and not wish we didn't.

Don't get me wrong. I love Chick-fil-A. And I love kids. But the two of them together ... no thank you.

(This video doesn't have anything to do with kids, but it totally made me laugh.)

I Just Haven't Met You Yet

I saw Michael Buble at the Wang Theater in Boston with my siblings a few years ago and it was one of the best concerts I've ever seen.

Guess what? He's got a new CD out!

Here's the video for one of his new ones ... great stuff.

He's kind of a goofball. But my word, the man's got some pipes!

My New Neighbors

They just built a Taco Bell right outside my front door. Literally. It's maybe a few hundred yards away from my couch.

This is ironic, considering they're like my least favorite chain restaurant of all time. Now I must greet each day with a purple and orange neon sign.

Taco Bell? More Like Taco Hell.

Music is My Soul Food

Music.

It makes me dance.
It brings a smile to my face.
It's one way God reveals Himself to me.
There's a joy I find in music that I can't find anywhere else.

But it's not just me.

Watch how spontaneous singing on a French subway wins people over.
(Although sadly they're never able to get to the John Travolta look alike.)

And then there's this video ... one of my all time favorites.

This is the song that does it for me. I can't NOT dance when I hear this one.

What's your dance song of choice?

Homecoming

From the San Antonio News ...
Air Force Master Sgt. Joseph Myers had only one wish while in the desert sands of Iraq: Get home before the end of his daughter's fourth-grade year.

It almost didn't happen. Almost.

On Thursday, the next-to-last day of class at Randolph Elementary School, the airman's wish came true.

An emotional Myers, still dressed in his brown-and-tan fatigues, surprised his daughter in her class, returning from a year in Iraq nine days before his tour ended.
If you do nothing else today, watch this video.

John on a Friday

It's Friday! That makes me happy.

I can think of no better way to celebrate than some good tunes from my fave ... John, good to see you again. It's been far too long.

(I DARE you not to get your groove on as you watch this.)

Total Eclipse of the Heart

Remember the literal videos I posted a while back? (The idea is that they sing what's actually happening in the music video.)

Well, here's the newest one. And it's hilarious.
