I want to leave you with some good tunes to listen to while I'm gone. So here you go ...
Her name is MoZella. You can also listen to her songs on her MySpace page. I love the song Four Leaf Clover.
My friend John told me about her. John has an excellent taste in music, so whenever he recommends a new band, I know there's a good chance I'll love it. (Incidentally, John also has a great travel blog you should check out.)
Happy listening!
P.S. I also downloaded five David Cook songs. Which I also highly recommend.

Tuesday's Update
So. It's been a few days. But I have some news for you ...
1. This is Hawaii week! (Ok, that's not news. I've already blabbed about it enough.) I've been checking the weather online daily, and although it's supposed to rain a lot while we're there, they keep adding more and more sunny days. WOOHOO! Still, I bought a new rain jacket (sort of a foreign concept in Colorado.)
2. I have a new job! It was rather sudden to me and I'm still transitioning mentally and emotionally. But it was too great an opportunity to pass up. I'm still working at Compassion, but now I'll be working on the field communications team doing crisis communications. It wasn't something I'd planned, but it seems God had other ideas. And I'm learning that when I listen to Him, things tend to work out.
3. A week from today I turn 30. That's a big one. I know this will be a special birthday because I already received the best gift I've ever gotten. In my life. My friend Karen (with the help of my brother) coordinated getting all my friends, family and coworkers to write letters to me telling me what I mean to them. Then she put them in this really cool album with some photos. Seriously, guys, you have NO IDEA what this means to this "words of affirmation" girl. It's like a grown-up yearbook, only 1,000,000 times better. I used to read the messages people wrote in my yearbook over and over again. You can bet I'll be reading those letters over and over again! To everyone who contributed, I can't really explain to you what it means to me. Thank you for already making this the best birthday ever. I love you!

Kirk, Bono and Stephen
I'm planning on posting a few wedding photos soon, but in the meantime, read this post on Stuff Christians Like.
I'm normally not a huge fan of sarcasm but it made me laugh pretty hard this morning.

I Need a Vacation
Sorry for the slowdown in postings lately. I was getting on a roll with regular posts but suddenly life is getting in the way. I've been a bit overwhelmed with it, to be honest.
I have a new position at work ... I'm now a member of the web team. Okay you can stop laughing now. I mean it. Stop laughing. I'm actually doing web communications. Although I feel sort of under qualified, it's actually quite interesting. (Plus, I get to blog and get paid for it!) Anyway, the web stuff is a great big learning curve for me, but I'm enjoying it. We've had a lot of all day trainings and they are kicking my butt.
My sister Sara is here this week, stopping by on her move from CA to NY. So I'm hanging with her (and her boy) a lot. We're going to hit up The Golden Bee this weekend, this cool little sing-along piano bar. It's one of my family's favorite places.
I'm also taking pictures at a wedding this weekend. My first one. Yikes! But it should be fun. The weather is supposed to be great (thank goodness because the ceremony is outside.)
And I'm trying to finalize plans for my big birthday trip. We leave a week from tomorrow!!! I'm dying for some good girl friend time. And beach time. And hiking. And waterfalls. And not working. And luau. And hot lava pools. And sun. Praise God for vacations.
Speaking of birthdays, I have a great story to tell you, but it deserves a post of it's own. I'm exhausted and need some me time, so I'll catch ya later.

We've Come a Long Way, Baby
My brother has taken it upon himself to post some old family pictures on his Facebook page.
I include a few here for your viewing pleasure. Or perhaps your amusement.
Pemequid Point, Maine ...
Ahh the Dorky Years ...
Rockin' the fanny packs...
Thank God we didn't stay that way forever ...
Here are the rest.

Can You Be Sexy and Modest?
Very interesting discussion on Anne's blog on modesty. Check it out and then come back because I have some questions for you.
This whole modesty issue is something I struggle with as a single woman ... knowing where the line is. And the line is very fine, I think, between sexy and slutty.
So how in the world does a single girl remain sexy and modest? It's HARD, in my opinion.
Summer is my favorite season. I love tank tops and shorts and sundresses. And yes, even halter tops and bathing suits. For me, this isn't an issue of modesty. I just love the sun. But that's because I don't think the way men think.
It's easy for me to forget what a struggle this can be.
What do you think?

Andrew Johnston
Remember when Paul Potts, that cell phone salesman auditioned for Britain's Got Talent? And won? He looked like your Average Joe but then he opened his mouth and had this beautiful classical voice.
If you thought that was inspiring, check THIS kid out.

Skip's Heart
My best friend got married young. I remember when she first told me about him. We were in high school driving up to Woodland Park and she couldn't stop talking about this guy. He worked in the mailroom where she worked. I met him a few days later at a Newsboys concert. And from that day on, Carolyn was Ted'n'Carolyn.
Ted is a close friend of mine. (The rest of the world calls him Skip, but he's still Ted to me. Probably always will be.) He's a Godly man, has a wicked funny sense of humor and is an amazing husband and father.
Anyway, God is doing something really cool in Ted's life right now. He's lighting this fire for social justice in his heart ... and it's so exciting to watch!
Here's his post from today.
I can't wait to see what God has in store for him next!

Section 16
Today we hiked a trail called Section 16. Kind of a weird name. (Sounds more like a place where they hide UFO's.) Sweet hike, but longer than we expected.
Here you can see the back of the Garden of the Gods...
Jamie and the Beckys. Can someone say Olan Mills?
Havana ran around so much she must have done 20 miles to our 6. She was shaking by the time we got back to the car. But she loved it!
